Eric Morelli, the man who should be representing the citizens of state Assembly District 3 pointed out to me a very interesting article yesterday in the Las Vegas Sun.

Reporter Michael Mishak sat down with Nevada Democrat, labor union resource coordinator, and elected Assemblywoman Peggy Pierce to get her answers to “Six Questions” that are just dogging the minds of readers. We thank Mr. Mishak for this fantastic interview because it served as a great window into the political and philosophical “mind” of the woman who represents the citizens of Assembly District 3.

After reading this interview, I was stunned. Not by her senseless ramblings and inability to string two thoughts together in a sentence, which was stunning in itself. But more so by the philosophy of the woman. I quickly came to the conclusion that Ms. Pierce isn’t just a Democrat, she is a card carrying socialist. If you doubt it, here are a few excerpts of her interview:

* Raising taxes “is the responsible thing to do” and “low taxes” and a “tiny government” has been an “utter failure.” (“Tiny” government??? More on that idea later.)

* “The old Nevada fetish for tiny government and low taxes is a minority point of view today.” (That’s right, she said “FETISH.”)

* “Americans have realized that this idea of tiny government isn’t working in the 21s century global economy”

* “Budget cuts are irresponsible.”

* “. . . a lot of things over the years that were called fiscally conservative were just stupid.”

My personal favorite was this one: “it’s not morally acceptable in a society as rich as ours to tell low-income people, ‘Too bad you got cancer, good luck with that.’

No interview of an illiterate socialist is ever complete without the vilification of conservatives through the use of argumentum ad hominem as heartless people who don’t care about the sick, elderly, and children. That one I expected.

Perhaps most shocking was her statement regarding the current condition of having a “tiny” government and low taxes. She stated that it was time to pursue “something COMPLETELY new.”

That’s right, she’s not talking about “tweaking” the system. She wants a “completely” new system. Apparently CAPITALISM and granting Americans the freedom to pursue their economic dreams unencumbered by overly-burdensome government taxation and regulation hasn’t produced a successful America. She has made it very clear that the philosophy that BUILT the United States of America, made the business industry model the envy of the entire world, and in the process gave Americans the freedom to pursue their dreams, has been, in her words, “an utter failure” and that it is now time to pursue a “completely” different path.

By the way, where did she get this idea that our government is currently “tiny?” Lord, I would hate to see what would be considered even “modest” in her eyes!

I asked Eric for his response to these bizarre and wacky statements by Ms. Pierce. Here, partially, is his well-reasoned response:

“Raising taxes ‘is not the responsible thing to do.’ Allowing the government to come in at time when the economy is not at its best at all, and then preying on its citizens by burdening them with more taxes and telling them that ‘it is the responsible thing to do’ is downright unacceptable.

“Why is it that Assemblywoman Pierce can only say that raising taxes and creating a larger governing body will be the answer? Where are the people who do not have jobs going to come up with this extra money for taxes? Where are the people who are every day working Joe’s going to come up with MORE taxes when so much of their paycheck already goes to the government, on top of their trying to put food on their tables for their families?

“I understand that she wants to raise taxes for businesses and that it will not directly affect the individual. The thing is this. There are going to be consumers for the services that these businesses will provide. It is those consumers that will suffer the brunt of the tax increases. Businesses are not going to compromise the profit margin for taxes. They will pass this on to the consumer who will then have to pay more for their goods and services.

“Furthermore, the fact remains today that people move here because it has always been a cheap place to live, and the government is not at my door telling me how to live my life. I hold dearly to the fact that Nevada is one of the few states that the government is not putting the Big Brother hand in my cookie jar.”

Well stated Eric. Assembly District 3 sure could use you in the legislature right now!

  1. Thank you very much for giving me the forum to voice my opinion.

  2. What Peggy Pierce observes about the economy is sentiment I believe a large part of the populace believes to be true….and we’ve done a terrible job of countering.

    Raymond:
You are dead-on right. That’s what this blog, and all of the conservative effort to blog, twitter, and facebook is all about. Counter her sentiment and send it to 10 friends. Send it to 10 friends who aren’t already working towards a solution but who can be reasoned with. Bring them on board, and you’ll find that there are a lot more people who believe as we do. We’ve just got to reach them.

  4. Thanks for posting Bernie!

  5. We all rolled over and our freedom’s falling out! I do not own a business, but I work hard for a living. I am middle America; I am not a politician or a talking head, but I take the case for conservatism and an end to this socialist insanity to the family get-togethers, the water-cooler, and to the street. We need to rebuild: we didn’t lose the electionS last November because Obama has a mandate, we lost because our leaders abandoned their base! The Libertarians ran a Republican, the Republicans ran a Democrat, and the Democrats ran a socialist! We can’t play along with the super liberals thinking it will get us anywhere: a lot of people saw Obama as the lesser of 2 evils; let’s show them that we are a party of conservative principles, and the evils of overspending, expansion of government programs, and burdening businesses out of business will speak for themselves. I am so proud of all of our congressmen and women for voting ‘Nay’ in the House, and of the governor for preaching sense at the State of the State address. And I am very grateful to you, Bernie, for posting a forum for us to stay informed, connected, and proud in these times.

  7. It’s a shame that History and Government are no longer taught in our schools. If those classes were mandatory, even our children would know what a pack of lies she’s trying to “sell” to her constituents. The “Free Enterprise” system has been the back-bone of our economy since the inception of our country. What does she think was the reason behind the Boston Tea Party (Just to name one major event in our past)? In case someone out there doesn’t know, the reason was taxation without representation, and we are experiencing more of it now than at any time in our past, compliments of our so-call elected “leadership”. What do you think “pork barrels” are? They are the add-ons to bills submitted for vote in our national legislature. These “pork barrels” are items that they don’t want any of the voting public to know about added to bills that are reasonable and for the good of our country. Too many of the voting public don’t pay attention to what the legislature is doing, so they get away with almost anything. It’s passed time to watch your elected officials and get involved in “conversations” via e-mail, etc. and let them know they are being watched.

  8. Bernie I spent a number of months in the Soviet Union spread out over a number of years before and after it’s collapse due to “socialism”. I can tell you first hand that at that time they were the most unhappy people on the face of the earth. I used to call it “Mexico without the smiles”. After the fall of the Soviet Union you could see the smiles start to move up through the population first with the kids, then the teenagers, then the young adults, etc.; now they had hope for a better life. Human beings need to strive, need to be able to keep the fruits of their labor, and need to know that they are making a difference in the lives of their families, their country and the world! When a government takes care of them the government takes away this very basic need and thus the people’s happiness . If you would like to discuss this further, I can share with you numerous examples that will make our point.

I have also spent a number of years sailing around the world. If you would like to discuss life in the real world of Hillary’s “Village”, or what people from countries with “socialized medicine” have to say about it, I would love to share my experiences with you.

    Keep up the good work,

    Chay

Great response to another socialist idiot. We need this kind of thing… I’ve tried writing to the editors of the RJ and the fish-wrap insert, but have a hard time getting published (although they continue to regularly print the same four or five who mouth the doctrine of the left). We need an alternative medium where we can get the truth out to the people. As someone, above, pointed out, a great deal of the problem lies in our educational system which was co-opted by the left. We have the hippies of the 60s now “teaching” (read-indoctrinating) our young. They have lulled our populace to sleep, with their feel-good, do-good, know-nothing brainwashing. In addition to fighting the socialist on the political front, we have to take the educational system back and start teaching again. We have to wake the masses up or we are truly doomed. On the political front, we have to work towards across-the-board term limits. So much to do…

  10. We need to start out by saying NEVER AGAIN!

Will we intrude on a families personal affairs like we did with Terri Shivo
Will we tolerate the cronyism perfected by Tom Delay
Will we reward credit card companies awful lending practices by passing the BK Reform Act of 2005
Will we tolerate socializing losses and privatizing profits for big business.
Will we tolerate a President that claims to believe in the free market and does exactly the opposite
Will we tolerate State Representatives that blatantly take orders from the Nevada Resort Association

We need to clean our house up before the public will listen to our ideas for the future. The GOP has very little credibility with the general public.

  11. If you want to see a socialist/communist, all you need to do is look at bernie sanders, communist senator from VT. I spent years fighting this jerk. I almost had him beat, but the good poeple of Vermont fell for his lies. This is the type of politician that we are going to be fighting right here. You don’t need to believe me now, but when it happens, and I say “…I tld you so…” don’t turn your backs on me. You need to rally to me now, in order toearn how to fight these commies. But you won’t and all I will get is riducle.

Well by now it should be apparent that PL 87-297 is well into phase III… To read the entire socialist agenda please go to http://www.libertgunrights.com —– press the documents link and download, read and distribute the “doubter” pdf. It explains what has happened and what is about to happen to America.

  13. Socialism is a very dangerous concept. People such as bernie sanders i-vt, uses socialism as a means to hide his true political ideology. He is a COMMUNIST! He wants total take over of the govt. to subjicate (sp?) the people of this nation. He uses fear to keep his position. He uses tactics developed by Hitler to ensure that he remains in power. I fought this meglamaniac for years. Often times winning! If he feared any one person I was that person. I lashed out at him and his policies in regards to veterans and beat him at every turn. He hates the military, he is anti-gun, and feels that his form of govt. is all that any one needs. Can you folks say Hitler, Stalin, Mao?
