Harry Reid Helps Left Wing Fraudsters While Punishing Nevada Gaming and Education

Now that the so-called “stimulus” bill is reality, a cursory read of the bill to see what it actually contains is in order for all concerned . That would include congressmen and senators, alike, since it has been widely reported that none of them actually read the bill. That would include Dina Titus and Harry Reid.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to read that this bill is long on financial support for A.C.O.R.N., but short on dollars earmarked for Nevada’s education. Furthermore, the bill actually discourages businesses from traveling to Las Vegas to stay at our hotels. Given the fact that Harry Reid is Nevada’s Senator, and arguably the most powerful man in the Senate, how is it possible that Nevada will be given a sum in federal dollars that is DEAD LAST in the country per capita for educational spending? How is it possible that Harry Reid would allow a provision to be included in the “stimulus” bill that would prohibit legitimate business travel to strip casinos for their legitimate business meetings?

In Harry Reid’s Nevada, this makes total sense. Remember the raid by law enforcement officials on ACORN’s headquarters? Remember that it was the activities of ACORN that helped put the Democrats over the top in the election? With the help of the Dallas Cowboys football team, Sherwin Williams, and the thousands of other fraudulent voter registrations from Nevada, Harry and Dina are now in a position to reward their benefactors , and reward them handsomely they will. According to a reliable source:

Although ACORN operatives usually get their hands on such funds only after they have first passed through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or state and local governments, the new spending bill largely eliminates these dawdling middle men, making it easier to get Uncle Sam’s largess directly into the hands of the same people who run ACORN’s various vote fraud and extortion rackets. And the legislative package provides these funds without the usual prohibition on using government money for lobbying or political activities. . . The current version of the stimulus package would allow nonprofit groups to compete with states and localities for $3.44 billion from the $4.19 billion Neighborhood Stabilization Program allocation. The remaining $750 million from the program plus the $10 million in SHOP funds would be set aside exclusively for nonprofit groups. . . Probably chief among the groups to benefit from stimulus spending will be ACORN, the infamous network of 100-plus left-wing activist groups. (The American Spectator, Matthew Vadum)

Mark my words, Nevada hasn’t seen the last of ACORN’s fraudulent activities. This bill – now law – insures ACORN’s continued viability. Like the mob, which had to expand over time from whiskey running and loan-sharking in the early 20th century to extortion, gambling, prostitution and drug dealing later in it’s history in order to continue to make money, Harry Reid has now given ACORN the ability to expand from fraudulent voter registration into newer and more profitable activities through this “stimulus” bill. Those new rackets now include “neighborhood stabilization activities, which include redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes.” (Investors Business Daily; 1/27/09).

Profitable, that is, for Harry Reid, Dina Titus, and the democrats in the form of more money to seed fraudulent voter registration efforts in order to maintain their majority.

And while Tony Romo and Sherwin Williams continue to cast their ballots in Nevada elections for Democrats, public school education in Nevada suffers. The hotel and gaming industry in Nevada suffers. Industry experts say that Harry Reid’s “stimulus” bill will hurt casinos such as the Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio, etc. by discouraging companies that receive bailout funds from having convention and association meetings here in Nevada. ( “[The bill] could make life more difficult for resorts in Las Vegas, which host more than 22,000 business meetings annually that directly sustain about 43,000 jobs.”)

It is time for all of the voters in Nevada to realize what conservative Republicans in Nevada have known all along, and that is that Harry Reid is great for left-wing activist groups that help to ensure his personal power, but when it comes to Nevada’s businesses and education, he is absent. Hopefully, these facts will be understood and remembered when Nevadans are called to elect a Senator next year who will have their best interests in mind.

  1. Bernie,
This is right on target, Nevada isn’t going get to much of the Porkulus Bill. This bill proves that Harry is the carpet bagger he has been rumored to be. A real Nevadan would help his State which is one of the highest in foreclosures, and lowest in education already. The Dem’s are going to have to dramatically curtail there spend and tax programs in Nevada already, because of the revenue short fall, so Harry isn’t even a good Democrat. “Harry doesn’t have a clue it’s time he flew”

Please get ready…….. this is just the first far left liberal type of government that we are going to see for the next 4 to 8 years (hopefully it is only 4 to 8). The fairness doctrine, more completely bogus gun control laws, looser abortion “rights,” a cut in military spending, and more and more entitlement measures. These type of people have been foaming at the mouth for years to get to this point, to have almost complete control over legislative power, along with the White House. We will see our countries “greatness” slip backwards for many generations I’m afraid, turning it into a more european society.
Harry Reid is a disgrace to our state, and an embarrassment to the office he holds. Please some liberal or one of his supporters, who is reading this explain to me HOW HARRY HAS HELPED NEVADA? He is the epitome of a stereotypical politician. Please some one help me understand this!
    Now what is the solution?
Senator Ensign….. the bulls eye is on your back. What kind of leader are you going to be? Not just for Nevada, but for our conservative base of this country who is looking for leadership now. You can be the person. Quite playing the “Washington game” and get to work finding those others with some intestinal fortitude to not give into the majority now. Our countries future depends on this.
For us here in Nevada….. we need to help those who are ignorant to the issues……. we need to be the “watchdog.” We need to make it very clear what the liberals are doing behind the scenes, making them answer or more importantly accountable for what stands they take on each position that effects us. If we don’t? Hopefully you don’t have children. Think about what they will have to deal with in 20, 40, 60 years…….

  3. Great post!!
I couldn’t agree more! Harry Reid is only out for himself and will do anything at this point to have power. Let’s be honest about things, power is really what all of this socialist stuff is about. He doesn’t really care about Nevada – He’s proved that time and time again. (At least we have Ensign and Heller up there for us!!)
Ironically enough, Reid was one of the major players driving the mob from Las Vegas, and bringing in the “evil” corporations to run the casinos.

Yet again, you put out a marvelous blog post and say what constantly needs to be said. I hope the people of Nevada are taking heed of your words and will remember your statements in the weeks and months to come.

    Well stated, Chairman.

  5. Bernie:
I think it’s great that Harry has shot himself in the foot but even yesterday he was making comments on what the bill will do for Nevada. We need to prove him wrong, show Nevadans that he is bad for our state and has done nothing to really help us. Like your article pointed out It’s time we stand up and get rid of this guy. However, to do that we need a very strong candidate who is above reproach and can stand whatever Harry will throw at them. We need a candidtate that has conservative values but not too much or we will not get the cross over vote from Democrats. I really want a fscal conservative with the guts to take on Harry headon and put him out of our misery. He has been the worst representative I have ever had the misfotune to see represent me. He needs to go out with a large defeat. We cannot afford him any longer and I sure hope his moron son doesn’t run for that office either.

  6. The F.B.I. made a raid on the offices of A.C.O.R.N. in North Las Vegas and perhaps another location here. It has been a long, long time since that raid. Has there ever been a report of the findings of that raid that will make the costs of conducting that raid prove worthwhile?

Have the media reported this? If so, I have not heard it. I did hear the preliminary report of false names being used on registrations. Did these false registrations gain votes? For which party? (Like I couldn’t guess!) Will corrections be made where the system allowed this if it indeed happened? Which departments are responsibly involved? Have they made reports? Or, do they sit by amusedly and know without acting upon their intelligence?

What about the activities of A.C.O.R.N. in Las Vegas? Is there anything the people can apply vigilence to? Or, are we expected to continually fund and expand programs without answers?

  7. Tony Wright says:

If you are not willing to do what really needs to be done then sit down and shutup. If you are willing to try and preserve a way of life where hard work is rewarded, individual initiative is looked up to, where accomplishment means something. That all men can make their own fortune with out taking from others, where criminals fear to be employed because the price for getting caught may be their lives. Where schools work to make men and women of letters, and not just fodder for casinos and construction. To teach the individual is the sole basis of this country, and that individuals working for a common cause can prevail as long as they stick to their principles and not give in to fluffy sounding platitudes. If you are not willing to use the emotions of others to communicate the depths of your feelings, then you have no chance. IF you are not willing to win but are ready to compromise, you loose. IF you are not ready to fight the long war, then you will loose. If you are not willing to totally clean out government, you will be sabotaged from within and you will loose.

There are no nice political campaigns. The democrats cannot be beaten by being democrat lite. And the National republican party is usually not right, and when they are not right they need to be told so. The democrat lights up in the northeast part of this country need to get a grip and figure out what they want. They got it this last time around and were miserable failures.

What I saw at the local ( las vegas) convention was a group of state people expecting an easy rubber stamp on things. They were not ready for the participation that actually occurred, nor did they appreciate it. This attitude needs to be eradicated. The voters will not realize anything unless it is communicated, and the socialist agenda exposed for the slave making machine that it is.

What I am saying is simple, but very hard to do. But what in life is easy?

Is the Republican party willing to go a long to get along, or are they finally willing to take an actual stand and put some effort behind it?? Is the Republican party willing to give the power back to the PEOPLE? Does the Republican party actually have a long term plan? Or are they just winging it?

  8. American Communist Organization Running us NOW! That is what ACORN is all about. bambam has given them millions to defeat any pragmatic thought in this country. I stood watch at the polls, and I saw these pigs bringing people that couldn’t read, and told them how to vote! When I said something about this, I was told that they could help at the door, but not at the voting booth. So much for an informed voting public!
